So hair extensions are something that I have wanted to try for a very long time.
If you follow me on Instagram you would have seen on my stories that I got extensions over the weekend, and a sneak peak at the process! It was so much fun, and so much easier than I thought. I am now a HUGE fan of hair extensions forever, and let me tell you why…
First of all, when I was younger my hair was always very full and thick. I remember my mom always telling me how thick my hair was, and I am not trying to brag, but people complimented me on my hair ALL the time. It was actually kind of annoying. I always loved my hair, but never thought it was that amazing until I began losing all the beautiful volume and natural shine!
Add pregnancy into the mix and BAM, my hair has now officially become thin and dry and limp. Ughhh. I started looking into hair extension about a year ago, but kept putting it off because I wasn’t sure if I would like them, how they would feel, if they would just further damage my hair…etc…
Finally I had the opportunity to try out hair extensions when I heard from Nadia Evans! She came to my home to put them in last Friday, and blew me away with how amazing hair extensions can be! She applied the sew in extensions and did a truly beautiful job. It did not hurt one bit, the extensions feel very secure and she even trimmed my hair to match up with the extension perfectly! I love the extra length and volume to my hair and as funny as it sounds it is actually easier to do my hair now!

OK. So here are my top 3 reasons why YOU NEED hair extensions:
#1 Length & Volume
If you are like me and have lost that natural volume over the years, or if you just have thin hair already. Hair extensions give you that instant and beautiful volume you always dreamed of!
If you have been growing your hair out forever and it is just taking too long, or if you had a hair cut that you regret. hair extensions can give you back that gorgeous length!
#2 Color & Style
I love that fact that hair extensions are available in all natural hair colors, and also in any color you could possible want! I have seen some really pretty balayage extensions in other girls hair and love that look too!
Seriously, it is SO much easier to style my hair now that there is more of it! With added volume and length I can do so much more with my hair, but also an easy messy bun just looks so much more glam now! Even curling my hair takes less time even though I have more hair. I know how silly that sounds but it is true! I can easily curl 4-5 chunks at the ends and it looks like I spent hours on it!
(If you would like to see a tutorial on how I curl my hair in minutes with extensions, let me know in the comments below!)
#3 No Damage and Pain Free
Knowing now that hair extensions will not damage my hair, and are essentially pain free to have installed I am so much more relaxed about them! What girl wouldn’t want long, luscious, beautiful hair so easily? Also while your hair extensions are in and you are enjoying them, your natural hair is also safely growing in length and strength at the same time!
Ok with all that said, here are a few things you should know about hair extensions and how to care for them:
#1 They take about 1.5-2 hours to get put in. Sew in extensions involve first getting your hair braided like horizontal cornrows across the back of your head in a few places underneath your hair, and then the extensions are sewn into the braid. Braid extensions are great because the tension is evenly distributed throughout your hair, and therefore ensures a safer and more comfortable hair extension.
#2 You need to have your hair extensions tightened about every 6 weeks.
#3 Caring for your hair extensions is easy and they can be used just as you would your normal hair. It is a good idea to look into purchasing quality hair that will last you a long time.
#4 Good hair extensions can last up to a year!
#5 It is safe to go swimming and to style your hair as normal, just be sure to care for your hair as you would your natural hair and rinse chlorine out right away, and use a heat protectant spray when styling with curling and flat irons.

They do not hurt one bit. I am really surprised how comfortable they are! Initially they itched a little as I got use to them, but that quickly went away!
This is so interesting! I’ve always wondered how this works! Are they made of real hair? Are they heavy? I have so many questions!
