What’s in my Travel Carry-on

What’s in my Travel Carry-on

No matter how hard I try to pack light I never end up doing it. Hey, I am a girl with lot’s of needs what can I say? Hubby and I always end up having a full on conversation every time we travel about how many bags we will need to check, hee hee. Honestly, I would rather just pack a big ol’ bag with everything I could ever possibly need and check it, then to try and cram everything into tiny carry-on bags and have to lug them all through the airport, am I right? I mean unless it is a short trip, of course.

I still need a carry-on regardless, and I love just carrying a cute tote bag with everything I might need on the flight and leave everything else in the suitcase that I can access later when we get to our destination.

The struggle to get everything I think I need on the flight into my carry-on tote is very real too, but after years of practice I think I have it down to an art.

Here is what is in my carry-on…

Makeup Bag

Face Moisturizer:

Travel is so hard on skin, and flying can be so dehydrating. I will not get on a plan without a face moisturizer. FIB makes a great travel size that is great for sensitive skin.

MILK Cooling Stick:

OM GEE this thing is incredible! It really works so well, and it is so hydrating and refreshing when traveling. I love to swipe it under my eye after I nap or right when we land to wake my eyes up!

MILK Blur Stick:

My skin always acts up when I travel and being on airplane just kills my complexion, I use the Blur stick to smooth out pours and give my face an effortless porcelain affect. It is amazing at covering any imperfections without having to pile on foundation.

BB Cream:

Here is another quick fix for complexion when traveling. I love to have my NYX BB cream nearby to spot treat any blemishes. This is a super affordable drug store brand, and I live for it!

Jane Iredale Brushes:

We sold Jane Iredale at the spa I managed and so I have a bunch of them, and they are perfect for traveling. I keep a couple in my makeup bag for any quick applications. These are really amazing brushes and I especially like them for shadow application.

Eye Glitter:

Yes maybe I am crazy but I love to have this in my carry-on bag! Why, you ask? Because if you need to look semi-put together when you land, this little sweetie brightens up your eye lids and gives that “I am here and ready to have fun” vibe. I love this when going on a family vacation, visiting friends, or when landing and going straight to an event or meeting.

Lip Balm:

Have we talked about staying hydrated while traveling yet? Oh, we have? OK. Lip balm, folks…Need I say more?

The Other Stuff

Hydrating Spray:

For a quick spritz of hydration, this has been my product of the year. Mario Badescu has been around for decades and this Aloe and Rose Water Spray smells amazing, feels amazing, and literally makes a difference in your skin immediately. I also use this as a setting spray after my makeup application.

Facial Cleansing Wipes:

I ALWAYS put a few of these into a little plastic baggie and bring them with when traveling. They are a great save to wipe oil build up off your skin, or just to have on hand to wipe hands clean, spills on shirts, or whatever!

Wallet:

I usually throw my wallet into my carry-on and just pack any purses I want into my checked bag. This way I only have to carry one thing through the airport, GENIUS!

Hair Ties:

Having extra hair ties is a must! I often just throw my hair into a bun when traveling, and if my hair gets wild I need a hair tie to get it out of my face. I heard that tying hair up when traveling helps it from getting matted and greasy, Yes Please! The Shop Bop ones are super trendy right now, and don’t leave harsh creases in your hair. LOVE!

Cozy and Warm Fleese Sweater:

I ALWAYS get cold on airplanes no matter where we are traveling to, so I bring a big cozy sweater with me every single time. It is nice to have an oversized one that can cover my whole upper body, be bundled up as a cushion for sleep comfort, or used as a blanket over my lap.
