I love long beautiful curls or perfectly straight hair, don’t get me wrong, but as a mom of a 7 month old baby girl it just is not practical! I can not stand my hair falling in my face when I am constantly bending over to pick up toys, or have my hair pulled by my daughter who currently love to put everything in her mouth. Doing house chores is much easier when my hair is out of my face, and running errands too!

As much as I need my hair out of my face though, I am sick of the same old top knot and feeling like I am never put together!

I like to look good and I like my hair to say that I care about style and fashion! I want to be a cute mom if I can even if I am cleaning spit up all day long and constantly wiping stains out of my shirt!

It has been a few months now that I have been searching for a cute up do that would keep my hair out of my face but also something that looks like it took an hour to do! I wanted to look super put together but have it only take 5 minutes! Well… I was sitting down one afternoon during my daughters (Aria) nap, and stumbled across a new TV show to watch called Very Cavallari. For those of you who watch Laguna Beach or The Hills back in the day probably know who Kristin Cavallari is.

She now has her own show, and being the girl I am I was intrigued and decided to watch it. I noticed how Kristin (A mom also) often wore her hair up and pulled back but it had a trendy could-wear-to-a-party look to it and I immediately knew I wanted to figure out how to get that look myself!

OK. So with some trial and error I finally found a way to do a similar look that works well for me and only take about 5 mins. I am sharing this set by set tutorial with you all today and hope you love it as much as I do!

What You Need

This is a super easy hair style so you only need a few things. I use the DryBar Detox Dry Shampoo to give my hair volume. It not only smells amazing and gives my hair a fresh feel but it give hair wonderful volume, who knew?! Other than that you just need a hair brush (I love the Wet Brush), Bobby Pins, and two hair ties. I use the spiral hair tie at the end because it gives my hair the best hold at the most comfort! Yes Please!

Step 4:

Take each sectioned of teased hair and pin it back until it is all pin back and looks like the image above. Teasing your hair gives it the poof on top of your head.

Step 5:

Take the back half of your hair in the pony tail and braid it together. Then wrap the braid into a bun.

Step 6:

Secure the braided bun into place using the spiral hair tie and pull on pieces of the bun to create a looser disheveled look. Shown above.
