Skin Rescue Secret: Multi-Masking

Skin Rescue Secret: Multi-Masking

I am so excited about this post!

I have been wanting to share one of my biggest skin care tricks with ya’ll for a long time now. Multi-masking! OK. First of all, a little back story. Growing up in Minnesota my skin was always, ALWAYS greasy! I hated it, and I went through a terrible acne stage when I was 14-16 too. Minnesota is way different from Las Vegas as far as climate goes. The humidity level is much higher, and that is a big reason why my skin was always more greasy there. I never struggled with dry skin in Minnesota except for a few short months in the winter.

Fast forward to now, living in the desert did a complete 180 on my skin. I am always so dry now! But I still have greasy areas on my face. My lips are always chapped too, which is why I cannot go to sleep without putting on my lip mask! The first two years of living out here I struggled to find a solution for my skin. It can be so frustrating to try literally everything on the market and still have no results!

Finally I landed a Management position at a Skin Spa, and my whole world flipped upside down. I learned that even though my skin is dry, I still have an oily complexion, with just a dry skin condition. OK. So what that means is, everyone has a particular skin type, and you have to treat your skin type first and your skin condition second.

How do you do that?

So glad you asked, tee hee! Because I have an oily skin type with a dry skin condition I now knew how to treat it properly. Before I was using all these products to add oil to my skin, and then strip it and dry it out when I would break out. That was very bad!

Now I stick to using a vitamin C cleanser, a hydrating moisturizer, and to treat my skin when it gets difficult I do muti-masking! I have used several mask brands over the years, but my favorite are Peter Thomas Roth, and Image. Muti-masking is my trick for treating several skin problems all at once. Usually I use my Vitamin C Enzyme Mask from Image on my forehead for hydration, the Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel mask on my checks for hydration but also to calm my redness. I use the Irish Moor Mud Black mask on my nose and chin for deep pore cleansing, and the pumpkin enzyme mask everywhere else for dermal repair. I may look like a clown while this is all setting, but the result are totally worth it!

I do this once every couple week or when I feel like my skin needs it! I also love the Epicuren apricot scrub just before I mask to get a deep clean and open my pores for deep product penetration! This is my little trick, and I swear my skin rarely has any issues now even throughout my pregnancy! If any of you have secret tips for skin care please share with me! I am always looking for ways to get my skin to glow!

Oooooh, I love the idea of using multiple different products to treat different areas of one’s face. It’s such an obvious concept but I’ve never thought to do it! Thank you for the tip!

I have combination, acne-prone skin that becomes oily during the summer and dry during the winter on my T zone and cheeks, so it’s a little hard to find products for every season. I’ll be looking into some of your suggestions, and I can’t wait to try them out! x

I live in New England, so my skin goes from dry in the summer to normal in the fall then dry again in the winter time! It’s awful, and I’m forever looking for great new products. Thanks for sharing!
