Hello Friends! Happy Sunday!
I hope you are all having a beautiful day! We watched the Vikings lose badly, and I ran out to get my nails done.
Today I have a fun little post for you. I experimented with some time in the kitchen with Aria this weekend, and thought I would share how that went!

The first official day of fall was yesterday and that means baking! Is it funny that I only really like to bake in the fall? Something about fall and baking just go together. Any other time of the year I never really get the desire to whip out the baking sheets. And lets be honest, cooking with a baby is not really the easiest thing to do. BUT I have wanted to bake this year. And most of all I want to have these seasonal traditions with my daughter even if she is super little still. So I decided to experiment with how to have fun in the kitchen with a baby.

I wanted to involve her in some baking this weekend, and it actually turned out to be a lot of fun! Aria is now 9 months old. She is much more aware of her surroundings and I thought she might find it entertaining to watch me do some baking. So, I decided to do two really easy favorite fall treats. I wanted to pick things that would not take much time so that she wouldn’t get bored and start to fuss. And I wanted to make things that she could taste along the way, and something that involved bright colors to keep her attention!

I went with making rice crispy bars with Reece’s Pieces, and a boxed cake that we could frost later and sprinkle with toppings.

OK. It was so much fun, and Aria actually loved it! I think she felt like she was helping mama. Usually I do not cook dinner until she is in bed for the night. So, unless it is breakfast she does not she me cook too much. I pulled up her highchair into the kitchen area a safe distance from the stove and set her up with a couple of snacks while I went away melting the marshmallows. I said what I was doing as I did each step. And I involved her by showing her the rice crispy box and letting her eat a few. Showed her the bag of marshmallows and let her feel them. And the same with the Reece’s Pieces! It was so cute she was really into it! Plus I felt like I was teaching her new things along the way. Good momming points there, Teehee!

Obviously she is too little to stir or pour at this age. It was just fun watching her reactions to everything. Because rice crispy bars are so easy to make and can be done in under 30 minutes she was entertained the whole time. When I was finished I made sure to show her what they looked like all done. Of course let her taste them as well!

For the cake I simply mixed it up and popped it into the oven while she was distracted with her rice crispy treat.

After her nap I put her up in her high chair again and let her watch me frost the cake. I allowed her to lick off a small spoon with frosting. I used bright colored sprinkles to decorate the cake. She squealed with delight watching the bright colors fall on the white frosting. SO CUTE! All in all as long as I kept the task simple and within a short time frame it seemed to be something I can do with her again. It was also fun for me! I not only got to do some fall baking, but I had the entertainment of watching my daughter get excited about it! Love that!
