Best Movies for Fall

Best Movies for Fall

Every year I watch the same movies for fall and the same movie for Christmas time. I am such a holidays person, and there is nothing better then a pumpkin spice latte and an autumn inspired movie to get a girl in the mood for the season. Give me a big bowl of popcorn and some cozy PJs and I am ready to go!

There are so many lists of fall movies, and halloween movies out there so I wanted to compile my top favorites of both for you all. These are my absolute-favorite-must-watch-every-single-year movies; the ones that make the fall season feel like it is really here 🙂

BEST MOVIES FOR FALL

#1 Mona Lisa Smile

This is always the first fall movie I watch each year! The girls in school, the fall leaves, and the overall message this movie delivers always has me curled up on the couch and happy. Plus, common…it’s Julie Roberts!

#2 Corpse Bride

Got to have a little Tim Burton each October! I like the Corpse Bride just because it is a cute love story, but The Nightmare Before Christmas is a good one too! Closer to Halloween, I put this on every year!

#3 Step Mom

Step Mom is a fall classic! I love this movie! It warms the heart and gives you all those fall and family feels that you look for. Even though it is a sad story, it is a comedy and leaves your heart feeling full.

#4 Anne of Green Gables

This movie series has been a favorite of mine ever since I was a little girl. My Mom and I used to watch these movies together all the time. I love to re-watch the whole series in the fall. The season are beautiful in these movies, and the Canadian fall leaves are incredible! Such a cute story, but make sure you watch the originals!

#5 Remember the Titans

Another one of the first movies I watch each year to kick off football season, Remember the Titans is fantastic! The story is such a feel good, get together and kick butt adventure, and even for a girl it gets me excited for football season because that means fall is here!

#6 The Village

This movie is about as scary as I like to go. I am not into horror and thriller movies too much, but if I am going to watch a scary movie in honor of Halloween, The Village is the one.

#7 Good Will Hunting

Got to love Robin Williams! The scenes that are lush with the fall season in all it’s glory are so worth it, and all I ever need to get into the season feels. In addition to being in school, and working hard toward a goal; this movie is an all around feel good movie, perfect for fall.

#8 E.T.

An 80’s classic, E.T. is a must watch for fall! Everything about this movie makes it a necessity for me each year. The Trick-or-Treating scene is so adorable, and common, little Drew Barrymore is just too cute!

#9 The Harry Potter Series

When Harry Potter first came out my friend had to drag me to the premier of the first movie. I don’t know why I had a presumption that it would be lame. I was SO wrong. Not only did I fall in love with the movie, but I went home and read the entire book series six times through over the next ten years! I LOVE Harry Potter! It is absolutely a vital movies series for fall, you have to agree with me!

#10 You’ve Got Mail

I love Mel Gibson and Meg Ryan in this movie! A cute love story, and beautiful fall scenery, this is another must-see for fall.

#11 Hocus Pocus

Probably the most popular halloween movie out there, Hocus Pocus is like an obvious movie choice. I never get sick of this movie, and look forward to it each year. I even save it to watch until Halloween night while the Trick-or-Treaters come.

#12 October Sky

I just watched this movie the other night, and I always watch it every October. Because…well it is obvious! As the kids are in school and working towards a goal to enter the science fair with their rocket, this movie is an all time fall favorite for many.

#13 BeetleJuice

Another Halloween classic; BeetleJuice is wonderful! The comedy and fun in this movie has me laughing and ready for halloween instantly!

#14 Dead Poets Society

Dead Poets Society is a fantastic story, and if you have never seen this movie I recommend you make it a priority to see this season. A group of boys take after their teacher and dive into a beautiful friendship, this story is so heart warming.

#15 Edward Sissorhands

A cute story of an awkward misfit in a perfect little town, this movie is again a classic for the halloween season. Johnny Depp is wonderful as Edward! You will fall in love with him and this movie, guaranteed.

#16 Casper

Last but certainly not least, Casper is a movie I watch every October too. I love everything about this movie, and you can’t get more halloween then watching a movie about a ghost!

Hope you enjoy my list of go-to favorite fall flicks! Are there any movies you have to watch every year? Let me know! I am always adding to my collection!

Have a great Sunday XOXO
