I have been in project mode over here lately, the ideas just keep coming to me and I can’t stop! I am having fun, though, and watching our home come together has been so enjoyable. My mommy friend Casey at collectivelycasey.com and I had the idea of doing a fun craft corner for our kids and decided to do it at the same time and share our different ideas. Go check out what she did HERE! She has some really great ideas, and her girls are so lucky to have such a cute and fun crafting corner!

My idea for Aria’s craft corner was very simple. She is still pretty little and loves to color, so my goal was to make coloring the main focus. The idea of how I wanted it to look came to me one night as I laid in bed thinking about how I could do it very affordably, and still make it very unique and special. I wanted it to be bright and colorful and just scream fun! Since Aria loves to color, but prefers to color many different pages a day, I thought that having a constant roll of paper would be perfect. She could just keep on pulling fresh white paper over her desk to start on her new masterpiece without having to find and tear out new piece of paper from a notebook.

All I did to make this work was purchase a self adhesive paper towel roll and roll of white paper off of Amazon! So easy! The self adhesive, however did not hold well, so I ended up screwing the base into the side of the desk and can now be confident it will never fall. This desk is one we already had and I simply moved it into this corner and it fit perfectly.

Ok, so for the crayon display I wanted it to look cute, be practical, and be easily reachable for Aria. I have no idea how I came up with the idea above but the thought process went something like this. I had a long dowel rod that I had been waiting to do something with for a long time. I figured I could cut the dowel rod in half, paint it white and hang it on hooks so I could then hang little containers from that to hold the crayons. I could not find the kind of hanging containers that I was thinking of so then the idea of using curtain rod hooks came to mind! The only problem with that, then, was that the shower curtain hooks would move, SO! I got the idea of drilling small holes into the dowel rod which held the hooks in place and then just screwed the dowel rods directly into the wall. Bottom line here is that it was a process, but the end result was something I was really happy with!

This ribbon decor is something I actually made and had a lot of fun with! It was super easy and I love how it adds a little bit of a fun boho vibe! The pink basket to the right was another item I had and it was perfect for placing all of Aria’s coloring books. To the left I added a small magnet strip that also doubles as a marker board, added some bright flower magnets, and it is perfect for Aria to hang her favorite art work of the day!

In total the entire project took me about an hour and a half to put together and it cost me less then $30! It is the perfect corner for Aria to be creative and I love that I can easily update and add to it as she grows!
