If you follow along on Instagram than you know that I am already very much in the Christmas Spirit over here, and yes, I do still celebrate Thanksgiving! However, Christmas is my holiday and I have no shame in getting ready early! One of my first projects of the season is this DIY Christmas bulb wreath and I LOVE how it turned out! I am going with a whimsical, whoville-inspired theme this year so I used a bunch of multi-colored and glittery bulbs, but you can certainly use whatever colors you want! Below I am sharing the 8 easy steps to make your own holiday bulb wreath and the supplies you will need.

Supplies:

Step One:

Using your hot glue gun, glue your ornaments around the outside of your hoop in a straight up and down angle. You can alternate the colors to give it contrast. Most hoops will not be the exact size of a perfect circle of ornaments, if this the case for you, leave the top empty space open and we will use this as your hanging spot.

Step Two:

Glue your next set of ornaments in between bulbs on the outside of the hoop. I placed mine just to the outside of the top to create dimension. (Keep in mind these do not have to be perfect, character is a part of this project and it will be impossible to notice once the wreath is finished.)

Step Three:

Repeat step two except place the bulbs on the inside of the circle of ornaments. I chose my color placement based on what I thought looked best and tried to keep some consistency.

Step Four:

Go around the circle again and add more ornaments to fill the gap between the outside and inside bulbs. You should have a complete base wreath at this point.

Step Five:

This step is all about filling in the gaps. Using what you have left of the larger bulbs, glue them in to fill any larger gaps. Next take your smaller bulbs and fill in the smaller gaps. I used a bit of system with this step, but again character is what the outcome looked best as.

Step Six:

Pull off all the glue strings to create a clean wreath.

Step Seven:

Use your string to tie onto the open space of your base so you have the option to hang it via a string if you choose. At this point you will be ready to start filling the top of wreath gap in whichever way makes the most sense.

Step Eight:

Your finished! Hang up your work of art and enjoy all season long! These wreaths sell for anywhere from $60-$300 or more! If you use bulb ornaments you already have, own a glue gun, and only need to purchase a hoop you can make this for under $10!
