As a mom being able to get ready quickly in the morning is a talent we all have to master eventually. I will admit, my daughter is 9 months old and I still have days where I am not getting ready until 9/10am. And when you wake up at 6:30am that seems late in the day already! I have never been one to stay in PJs all day. Over time I have been able to master a 5 minute makeup routine that is simple but pretty and the perfect amount for whatever I may have going on any given day!
Today I am sharing that fast and easy routine with you all and the tried and true holy grail everyday makeup products that are no fuss and guaranteed to always look great!
I always start with washing my face thoroughly and using a moisturizer with hyaluronic acid. Moisture is super important for keeping skin youthful and healthy throughout the day! It also makes applying makeup so much easier.
Foundation
I go back and forth between the IT Cosmetics CC cream and the YSL All-In-One Glow Tinted Moisturizer for foundation. IT Cosmetics CC cream has just always worked well for me and I have been repurchasing it for a few years now. I started using theYSL All-In-One Glow Tinted Moisturizer this year and absolutely LOVE it! First of all it smells amazing, but it is also a really pretty luminous finish. It is more expensive then the IT Cosmetics CC cream so I usually save it for days I am in public more. Anyhoo, I simply apply a few drops on my cheeks, forehead, and chin, and then rub it in with a dense brush making sure to get it all evenly dispersed.
Concealer
Immediately following foundation I apply concealer to my under eyes. I have been using the Lancôme Effacernes Waterproof Protective Undereye Concealer for over a year now and swear by it! It is a little more expensive but SO worth it. I will always swear by a good concealer. Purchasing cheap concealer is truly just a waste of money. I simply dab a few drops under each eye and pat it in with a wet beauty blender until blended evenly. Then I set it with Laura Mercier Translucent powder and let it bake.
Brows
While that sets I grab my Anastasia Brow Wiz Pencil (I know I am a broken record with this stuff, but it is just the best. Period.), and first trace out my brows as shown above and then fill then in. I usually just draw a line out following the hair line on both the bottom and the top of my brow and then using hair like strokes fill in the empty space.
Bronzer
After the brows are finished I brush of the setting powder and go in with my bronzer. I have been using a variety of different bronzers, there are a lot of good ones out there. But my favorites recently are the Tom Ford Ultimate Bronzer, andCharlotte Tilbury Pretty Glowing Skin Palette. I am using Tom Ford Ultimate Bronzer in this look and have had it, again, for over a year. Another investment product but SO GOOD. I just swipe it on under my cheek bone, along my jaw line and forehead, and then on either side and under my nose.
Highlighter
I use highlighter next, because I love that little extra glow, and using my fan brush I spread it over the highest point on my cheek bones and the tip of my nose. Sometimes I also put a little on the upper part of my lip if I am feeling extra, teehee! Again I use an assortment of different highlighters I like the Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer, Charlotte Tilbury Pretty Glowing Skin Palette, and pretty much any of the Becca highlighters. But there are a lot of great highlighters to choose from out there! Some other really good brands are NARS, and Benefit!
Setting Spray
I finish with a few spritz of setting spray. A few sprays and I am ready to go! I have been using the Urban Decay De-Slick for a long time, but any rose water spray works well too! I have the Mario Badescu and use that off and on when the mood strikes!
OK! I hope this gives some of you a good base to go on for a fast and easy 5 minute makeup for those days when you literally have just 5 minutes to yourself to get ready and need to look somewhat put together! We all have those days, and for me just this simple routine is enough!
