Dining Room Update with Ruggable®

This post is in collaboration with Ruggable® – However all opinions are my own.

You guysssss… This space! My home finally feels complete! Well except now I want to do something with the big wall behind our living room wall… 20th century problems, right? Anyway I was really excited to share this space with you because it all started with a rug. Ruggable® makes machine washable rugs that are stain and spill resistant. Making our home, ours, has been a ongoing project of mine this year, and having two busy little girls has not made that easy. I have wanted a Ruggable rug for a very long time specifically because I can get a beautiful, quality rug, that won’t give me a heart attack if it gets spilled on.

I decided to put it in our dining room for exactly that reason, and because it is interchangeable, I can change the rug I use in that space to go with the seasons. Ruggable actually has holiday themed rugs that are SO cool, you should take a look at these Halloween themed ones! SEE HERE So cool, right?

So, this room was unused, dark and gloomy, and simply a catch all for random junk. I wanted it to flow from the playroom into the kitchen and serve a purpose. Aria is finally big enough to sit at the table, and Ella with her booster seat can be pulled right up to the table too. We always wanted to be that family who sits down to have dinner together and now that this space is usable for that, we are finally able to. It is funny how happy Aria is when we all sit down and eat together!

I started with my Ruggable rug and used that as a bouncing off point for the rest of the space. I wanted to brighten it up. The buffet is a dark brown solid wood, and because it is so dark I tossed around the idea of painting it. I ended up deciding that it was not necessary and probably a mistake to paint over such beautiful wood, so I went to work trying to bright the space without painting anything. I filled the space above the buffet with a gallery wall full of photos in Black and White. I brightened the white in the photos so they would stand out more. I already had the faux tree and placed that in the far corner, that instantly made the space brighter too.

I cleared out the clutter and added some simple black and white Halloween decor and a fun boho macrame table runner. The whole space was SO easy to transform! Because our floor is tile all throughout the first floor of our home, it is difficult to keep the space looking bright. It is amazing what one rug can do!

Finally, I wanted to mention that Ruggable rugs are non-toxic and non-slip. Because Ella is still crawling everywhere, and Aria suddenly needs to run everywhere, that was a top priority for me. I assume other mothers have the same requirements when shopping for family space rugs, so keep that in mind too!

Check out Ruggable if your shopping rugs, they have a ton of benefits and are extremely affordable. I mean, REALLY affordable. They were also kind enough to give me a discount code for you to use for an additional 15%. CODE: FUNLYDIA15
