“That Witch” Book & Craft + Favorite Halloween Books 2021

Folded Paper Doll

One of our favorite things to do, the girls and I, is read a book and then do a craft that goes with it. This halloween season a new book came out call “That Witch” by Courtney Hanks. The author is also the illustrator and so talented. We LOVE this book and read it almost every night. Last week when we all stayed home not feeling our best I decided it was a good book and craft day, and grabbed “That Witch” off the shelf.

I laid out craft paper on the kitchen table, turned on twinkle lights, put on Hocus Pocus in the background, and set up wooden bird houses, paint and other supplies to have fun with with. We read the book and settled at the table for hours of crafting fun. I made this folded book doll as a replica of that witch from the book and the girls absolutely love it! You could do the same thing for Christmas and make an angel too! Here is how you do it… CLICK HERE FOR VIDEO!

Materials:

Old Book, hot glue, paint, wooden bead, yarn, base of your choice, card stock paper

Instructions:

Fold each corner of each page of the book to the center, and then fold the top corner in one more time to create the folds. Repeat this step until you have about a quarter of the book pages folded. Cut along the binding of the book to separate the folded section and hot glue the two back pages together. Stand the paper up and glue one end onto a base of your choice. I used the wooden cover from an old jar candle. Now glue the wooden bead at the top as the head. Paint the paper to create the dress and put a face on the bead. Add yarn for hair, and craft a witch hat from card stock and glue on top! Have fun with it!
