The Yoga Life

I get a lot of questions asking me what I am doing for exercise now that I am in the postpartum stages following a c-section birth. If you follow along on Instagram you know that I have been running a lot (a favorite sport of mine since I can remember), but I have also been able to continue practicing yoga and that has been one of the best things for my strength, toning, and balance.

When you think of yoga, what comes to mind? Is it intimidating concentration while meditating and balancing on your head? Is it being as flexible as a worm and twisting into some unimaginable shape? Is it a type of foreign religion of the inner soul that is hard for you to connect with? I remember the first yoga class I took, I was laying on my mat at the beginning of class and I felt as though I was a total stranger to this world mind modification. These people around me were so far advanced from where I was I did not think I could ever become accustomed to the practice even though I wanted to so very badly.

People see yoga and think of the stereotypical experience – a room full of mind and body meditation professionals with the ability to practically levitate from the earth in perfect symbodico with mother nature and their inner self. Ok…well at least that was my stereotypical thought. I did not open up to the health improvement and happiness it could bring me for quite some time because I was genuinely put off by the feeling of inadequacy.

Fast forward several months of giving a handful of first tries and suddenly I became a bit obsessive of the exercise because I was finding the value of what Yoga truly is in all senses of the practice, fun, relaxing, and a really good workout. Yoga helped me to find strength in balance, healing in flexibility, and clarity in posture and breathing. These are all things that I value beyond words can express and I think are really wonderful attributes that all those in fitness should feel comfortable exploring.

That is exactly where Bulldog Yoga differentiates. Bulldog yoga is all about making yoga approachable, accessible and fun. Free from chanting, free from instructions in Sanskrit, free from those uncomfortable moments. It is the way to discover yoga and feel like you are part of the pack on day one. I also love the fact that you can stream classes literally anywhere which is how I have been able to continue practicing since becoming a mother of two little girls. I can get in my workout right at home without missing a beat.
